A vast majority of citizens believe that, if gun control is strictly enforced it would quickly reduce the threat of crime. Among them, about 100 million are handguns†. This shows the rate of guns owned by the citizens and risk of violence prevalent in the country. He suggests that 16,272 murders occurred in the United States in the year of 2008. About 10,886 or 67% were performed with firearms.
